About Me

I'm Samantha, a 22 year old swimming teacher from Melbourne. I know nothing about birds, but recently found a stray which I believe to be a bantam Aussie Pit Game hen. It's been suggested that she may be crossed with something else, so I think this seems like a good place to try to find some answers to confirm her breed and age.

About Me

I have been breeding and exhibiting purebred poultry now for over 25years though admittedly I havent done a lot for the past few years.  My favorite breed is the Aussie Game though I have had several other breeds over the years inc Rhode Islands, Leghorns,Modern Game Bantams, Aussies both large and bantam and of course Aussie Pit Game.  I have dabbled in several others, but those breeds were my main interest.  At present I only have Large Aussies and Large Pit's.  I have only been breeding Pit's for the past 4 years, the thing that got me into them was that it seemed to me that we were in danger of losing the original type and going down the road of what looked pretty instead of staying true to the original bird. A large number of the birds that were winning here seemed to me to be more suitable for the table than the pit. There were  birds with massive chests and bodies on short legs that were more like weightlifters than fighters.  We should be aiming for Danny Green's or Jeff Fenechs rathers than Dean Lukin's.
